World War II Heroes Deluxe Pearl Harbor Tour with Lunch (39)
The World War II Heroes Deluxe Pearl Harbor Tour is a full-day, immersive experience that offers visitors the chance to explore four key historical sites within Pearl Harbor. It is designed for history enthusiasts and travelers looking for a meaningful encounter with the pivotal moments of World War II.
This tour is ideal for those who prefer a structured experience, complete with hotel pickups, guided exploration, and lunch at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. You’ll spend the day walking through history while our knowledgeable local guide shares insights into both the historical significance of Pearl Harbor and Hawaiian culture.
What to Expect on the Tour
First Stop – Arizona Memorial
You’ll start your day by boarding a Navy boat that will take you to the Arizona Memorial, a solemn reminder of the 1,177 crew members who lost their lives during the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. The memorial itself is a peaceful yet poignant site where you can reflect on the events that triggered U.S. involvement in World War II.
At the visitor center, you’ll have time to walk through exhibits detailing the history of Pearl Harbor, view photographs, and read firsthand accounts from survivors. This is a self-guided portion of the tour, allowing you to explore at your own pace.
Exploring the Battleship Missouri
After visiting the Arizona Memorial, the tour continues with a drive across the bridge to Ford Island, where the Battleship Missouri is docked. Known as “Mighty Mo,” this battleship was where the official surrender of Japan took place, ending World War II.
While on board, you can walk the decks, explore the ship’s various rooms, and stand at the exact spot where the peace treaty was signed. This ship served in three wars—World War II, Korea, and Desert Storm—so there’s a lot of history to uncover.
Lunch at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum
Once you’ve explored the Battleship Missouri, you’ll enjoy lunch at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum’s Hangar Café. The café provides a few menu options to suit different dietary preferences, and all meals are prepared fresh on-site.
- Hawaii 5-0 Kalua Pig Wrap: Braised pork with pineapple coleslaw and guava BBQ sauce, wrapped in a tortilla.
- Commander’s Hawaiian Cobb Salad: A mix of island greens, hardboiled egg, avocado, and your choice of guava smoke meat or Hawaiian chicken bites. Gluten-free option available.
- Hawaiian Chicken Bites Rice Bowl: Tempura-battered chicken bites with guava BBQ sauce, rice, and salad.
- Admiral’s Awesome Plant-Based Burger: A vegetarian/vegan option served with french fries or a side salad.
Bottled water or a fountain drink is included with your meal.
Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum
After lunch, you’ll have time to explore the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. The museum is housed in hangars that survived the attack on Pearl Harbor and still bear the bullet holes from that fateful day. Here, you’ll find a variety of restored aircraft, including fighter planes and bombers used during the war.
The museum offers an informative look at aviation history during World War II and beyond. You can walk through various exhibits, learn about the evolution of military aviation, and take a closer look at the aircraft on display.
Duration
The tour lasts approximately 9.5 hours, including time for transportation, visiting all the sites, and enjoying lunch.
Hotel Pickup and Transportation
The tour includes convenient pickup and drop-off from select Waikiki hotels. Be ready at your hotel by 6:45 AM to board the deluxe tour vehicle, which is equipped with air conditioning for comfort during the drive. You can relax and listen as the guide shares Hawaiian history and legends along the way.
