Pearl Harbor Remembrance: A Salute from Waikiki’s Shores
What to Expect on Your Salute to Pearl Harbor Tour
The Salute to Pearl Harbor tour offers a comprehensive and memorable visit to some of Oahu’s most significant World War II sites. Beginning with a convenient hotel pick-up from your Waikiki location, this half-day tour focuses on giving you a meaningful experience filled with educational insights and emotional depth.
WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument
The tour begins with a visit to the WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument, which honors the people and events that shaped America’s involvement in World War II. As you walk through the exhibits, you’ll discover personal stories from survivors, archival footage, and artifacts from the attack. It’s a solemn and educational look into the impact that Pearl Harbor had on both the military and civilians, setting the stage for the emotional experience that follows.USS Arizona Memorial
After visiting the exhibits, you’ll board a Navy shuttle boat that takes you across Pearl Harbor to the USS Arizona Memorial. Floating above the sunken battleship, the memorial stands as a powerful tribute to the 1,177 sailors and marines who lost their lives during the attack. The memorial itself is a stark yet beautiful structure, and as you stand above the remains of the USS Arizona, the significance of this site will truly sink in. You’ll be able to see the ship beneath the water’s surface and witness the small amounts of oil that still rise to the top, known as the “Tears of the Arizona.” It’s a place for reflection and remembrance.Aloha Tower (Drive-by Only)
After your visit to Pearl Harbor, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive through downtown Honolulu, where we’ll pass by one of Hawaii’s most iconic landmarks: the Aloha Tower. A symbol of Honolulu’s history as a maritime city, the Aloha Tower offers stunning views of the harbor and city skyline. Though we won’t stop here, your guide will provide historical insights about this important landmark.
